061027 - Serving And Services

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

- Theme -

Ministry

This month’s prayer theme is on the topic of Ministry. Have you ever wondered what the meaning of minister is? A quick check defines it as “one who serves or assists someone else; an exercise of one’s gifts and resources.”

Let’s take a closer look at Deut 6:5

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your strength”

What does loving the Lord mean? To spend time with Him, to develop a close relationship with Him. In other words, to minister to Him.

Looking further, how do we serve Him with all our heart, soul and strength? According to Deut 10:18, we are to defend the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and love the alien, giving them food and clothing. This defines what we can do when we talk about ministry to others.

Last but not least, we have personal ministry. God is not only interested in our spiritual well-being but also our physical wholeness. He is able to meet any needs that we have at this hour. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Even as He met the needs of the Israelites, what more can He do since He dwells in us this day!

- Order of Prayer -

We will be focusing on three main areas,

1. Ministry to God;
2. Ministry to Others; and
3. Personal Ministry
