HEBREWS & LEVITICUS

ABTC currently offers Hebrews and Leviticus as its latest course offering.
Ever wondered how to study the book of Hebrews with its many difficult passages or the book of Leviticus which seems to have little relations with all its ceremonies to 21st century Christians. This course will examine both these books paying special attention to how the person of Christ connects these two books together. On a larger scale this course will also address how the two covenants, the Old and the New relate to each other.

Course Description
1. Theological themes of the person and work of Christ
2. Background materials found in Leviticus are compared with themes found in Hebrews
3. The office of the priesthood of Christ as found in Hebrews is compared to the Levitical priesthood
4. Study of the tabernacle in its purpose, plan and construction
5. Old Testament types and shadows are shown in relation to the New Testament plan of salvation

What you will learn
- You will deepen your understanding of the nature and work of God and in so doing deepen your devotional life and ministry
- You will be able to recount the basic message of the Book of Hebrews and the major structural divisions and thus develop the flow of thought to the author’s message
- You will be able to sketch the historical and cultural settings of the Book of Hebrews
- You will be able to discuss intelligently the crucial theological passages in the Book of Hebrews
- You will be able to make practical applications of the teaching found in the Book of Hebrews
- You will be able to recount the basic message of the Book of Leviticus and to develop the flow of thought to the author’s message
- You will be able to sketch the historical, cultural and geographical settings of the Book of Leviticus
- You will be able to discuss intelligently the crucial passages in the Book of Leviticus
- You will be able to explain the significance of the feast days of the nation of Israel
- You will be able to relate the tabernacle worship rituals with their New Covenant fulfillments
- You will become acquainted with the purposes for the Law of Moses and the reason for its termination
- You will be able to make practical applications of the teachings found in the Book of Leviticus
- You will be able to state clearly the distinctions between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant

Course Meetings:
The class will meet 6 times. For students who are taking this course for credit, there will be an extra session to help you with the tests and exams for this class.

Course Schedule:
Because of the expected class size and our hope to make it easy on those who take the courses, we will be having 2 days to meet, Sunday 2:45-4:45pm and Monday, 7:30- 9:30 pm. That means the Monday session and the Sunday one is identical every week. You should attend either of the sessions per week and if need be come on the date which you are freer for that particular week.

Venue:
Meetings will be held at Alive Community Network, Training Room at #02-10 Oriental Plaza, New Bridge Road
Credit Students:
For those of you who plan to do this course for credit, there are a mixture of short papers, tests and a final exam. You will also be asked to complete the appropriate readings. Attendance for all six classes is compulsory. If you miss any session you must do the appropriate make up for the session. This will often be in the form of listening to taped sessions.

Audit Students:
For those who plan to take this course for personal enrichment and do not want it to work towards a degree program.
You however have the option of converting this to a credit course later on if you want to where you will have to do the necessary tests.

Fees:
Audit - $25
Credit - $40
The course fees for both audit and credit students will include course notes but will not include the textbook for this course which can be purchased on your own or from our office.

Course Instructor:
Daniel Segraves is President of Christian Life College. An author of numerous books and a well known teacher for many years, Dr Segraves received his BA from Gateway College of Evangelism, his MA and MTh in exegetical theology from Western Seminary and his Ed.D from California Coast University. He is currently beginning his PhD program in Renewal Theology from Regent University. Dr Segraves has been an ordained minister for over 40 years

Course Facilitator:
Mathew Mathews, Bobby received his BA, B.SocSc (Hons) and M.SocSc from the National University of Singapore where he specialized in the Sociology of religion and organizations. His theological training include a Postgraduate certificate in theology from New Covenant International Bible College, New Zealand and a Masters in Religion and Counseling from Liberty University, Virginia. He is currently completing his Masters in Religious Education from Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary and is a PhD candidate in the National University of Singapore where he specializes in research on counseling and religion.
