No Valley Too Low

February 17th, 2009 by chesedkel

"I create the light and make the darkness. I send good times and bad times. I, the LORD, am the one who does these things." - Isaiah 45:7

"I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak His praises. I will boast only in the LORD; let all who are helpless take heart. Come, let us tell of the LORD’s greatness; let us exalt His name forever." - Psalm 34:1-3

I received the following message on Friday the 13th. "Read this slowly: LIFEISNOWHERE. What did you read? Was it ‘LIFE IS NOWHERE’ or ‘LIFE IS NOW HERE’? Just a beautiful line to say, "The quality of life depends on the way you look at it."" What a great way to begin my day with that message on Friday the 13th. I suffered a sore throat and runny nose on that day. Had I been the superstitious sort of person, I would have believed that I was plainly down on my luck on ‘Black Friday’. But does that really mean that I had a poor quality of life on that Friday? Not at all. I had a satisfactory time at work, a good afternoon’s nap during my half-day’s off from work, had a fruitful time studying and a sweet time of fellowship with my dear mentor. My sickness did not nullfiy the joy that I got from all these.

It occurred to me that since time is in God’s hands, both the good times and the bad times are from Him. The good times are for our enjoyment while the bad times are used to shape us into what God designed us to be, and also reminding us that we cannot live independent of God. Times may change, friends may enter with you or leave, the economy may rise or dip, exam grades may improve or decline, interests may be inspired or fail, but one thing remains constant: God has never changed. He lives from everlasting to everlasting and His loving kindness (chesed) endures forever. No flaw of yours can diminish HIs compassionate love. No difficulty can withhold His grace, joy and peace from you. No devil can quench the flame of life which He giveth you. Therefore, praise the Lord at all times and constantly speak His praises. Let all who are helpless take heart!

Update on Willoughbys - 11 Feb 09

February 12th, 2009 by Mei Cheng

Dear Friends

Home Sweet Home

Chaos erupted tonight (Wednesday evening) at Changi Airport as Bishop Steve Willoughby returned to Singapore after a three and a half month unexpected sojourn in America. Greeted by family and Tabernacle of Joy saints, Bro Willoughby was delighted and relieved to be home at last. Although tired from the long journey, Bro Willoughby looked well.

Now that he is home, Bro Willoughby’s priority is to give undivided attention and time to his family and his church, Tabernacle of Joy. As he is currently on an oral chemotherapy regime, any ministry activities he engages in will now be confined to Singapore. We seek your understanding at this time that Bro Willoughby may be unable to honor all of his speaking engagements previously scheduled for this year.  Please note that any messages, notes or words of encouragement that you send are forwarded on to the Willoughbys.

We, at Tabernacle of Joy, are continuing to believe that Bro Willoughby will be completed healed and delivered from cancer and it is the same prayer that we have for Sis Willoughby. There are not enough words to express our sincere thanks to you who have prayed, interceded and fasted on behalf of the Willoughbys. We will continue to provide you with progress reports on the Willoughbys.

Attached are some photos of Bro Willoughby’s arrival at Changi Airport.

Rejoicing always
Sandra Subner
On behalf of Pastor Timothy Lee
and Tabernacle of Joy
