To God who works behind everything
To Mandhir who inspired me to write this
Have you ever commanded the morning to appear and cauesd the dawn to rise in the east? Have you made daylight spread to the ends of the earth, to bring an end to the night’s wickedness? Job 30:12-13
Who provides food for the ravens when their young cry out to God and wander about in hunger? Job 38:41
Have you given the horse its strength or cloths its neck with a flowing mane? Did you give it the ability to leap like a locust? It’s majestic snorting is terrifying! Job 40: 19-20
Take a careful look around you and observe the things that happen. How do vehicles move? How do people chat and laugh and enjoy themselves? How is it that plants can grow in the direction of sunlight and that flowers can bloom? How can birds fly without being buffeted by the winds?
Then, examine your life. How did you meet that friend who loves you and encourages you? How did you recover so quickly from a flesh wound and not be faint from loss of blood? How did you retrieve the wallet which was left at your doorpost overnight? How were you able to think creatively, score good grades or find favour in people?
All those things happened because of God. He is the person whom we cannot see and He causes things to happen. We do not see Him put intelligence in the human brain to invent motorised vehicles. We overlook Him when we admire a beautiful sunrise. We say that Mother Nature is full of splendour instead of accrediting God when we gaze upon the horse’s display of strength. You also do not hear Him say, “Hey, I really love you a lot, so I’m giving this friend to you who will also love you.”
More often than not, people celebrate themselves for the successes and they leave God out of the picture. They forgot that God was the one who enabled them. He was the backstage crew that made sure that things ran well as they should. While you were at the frontline ministering to people, praying for them or doing well in your work, God was always at the backstage working things out for you. Before you complain about a situation in your life, or boast about your strengths, or praise ‘Mother Nature’, consider this: “The unseen guy - Jesus - is doing everything for you.”

Anyone who loves his father of mother more than Me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Matthew 10:37
Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbou as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37-39
When born-again Christians began their new journey with Jesus, life seemed like a honeymoon for them. The cares of their work and school life looked insignificant as compared to the powerful confidence that Jesus imbued in them. Each turn of the page of the holy bible brought fresh insights and they probably got doubly intrigued when they read Jesus’ dialogue with commoners. They felt sheltered during prayer times as if the invisible walls of their private prayer closet were surrounding them.
What would become of the born-again Christian as he or she ventures further into the journey with Jesus? Many have heard of how they had overcome obstacles to become stronger people, but there are stories of jaded Christians too. These are the people who gradually found bible-reading and prayer as habitual activities that are done without a sprinkle of love for God. They were excited about God before, but as time passes, He becomes perhaps yet another commoner whose name rests in a corner of their minds.
That sounds like how some people go through their romantic relationship with their significant other. Their hearts were filled with passion to the fullest during their first date and during the initial stages of knowing one another. Give it more time and the passion of their love dies down. The partner becomes just another person to hang out with during the weekend. If we cannot love Jesus with a continual, undying passionate love, how then can we love other people passionately?
Jesus clearly emphasized on the priority of loving God first above anyone else when he mentioned the first commandment: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. That was followed by the commandment to love your neighbour as yourself. Failure to love Jesus happens when we love anyone else more than Him. The standard for us to show our love for Jesus is not too high for us to achieve. We just have to make Him the entire part of our lives. Talk to Him before anything else. Ask for His opinions on improving a friendship. Rely on Him to solve problems at your workplace. Ask Him to speak to you whenever you read the Scriptures. These are just some of the things you can do with Jesus to keep your undying love relationship that He started with you.
