James Praise Report from Leeds

September 20th, 2007 by Mei Cheng

Hi Church mates, colleagues and friends,

I just want to testify of how God provided for me and my family for our trip to UK. I don’t usually write this unless something dramatic has really happened. But this string of events is simply so coincidental that it is unbelievable:

1. I tried selling my car in Jan 07 but didn’t manage to. I was intending to sell it early coz my Mazda 323 does not have a good resale value so the longer I wait, the lower the price it would fetch. Also i wasn’t sure which uni I’m going to so I anticipated the worse i.e. that classes will start in July and so I’ve to leave the country in Jun. Instead I was cheated by the dealer! I met the buyer who happened to be cheated by the dealer also and we ‘joined forces’ against the dealer to get back our monies. We made police reports and reported to LTA but was told this case can only be regarded as a commercial breach of trust so the police can’t arrest him. So we decided to pressure him using the police reports and he got scared (he dunno we can’t get him arrested….haha). Anyway we recovered all our monies and I eventually sold my car to the original buyer just a week before I left. It was a blessing in disguise coz i got to drive the car from Jan till Aug 07 and sold the car to the buyer for the same price that I would have sold in Jan 07. I believe God was orchestrating everything and his timing is really perfect. He didn’t allow it to happen when the timing wasn’t right

2. We rented out our house for a really good price (can’t tell u…hehe) just before I left. We were quite worried if our house will become a mess if we rent to people we don’t know. But the tenant (a Swedish couple) was very suitable and we were very comfortable with them. God really knows what we need =)

3. I requested for family accommodation but the university said the waiting list was till 2008!. A month before I left for UK, was told I was no. 52 in the waiting list and they have 24 units to offer. A week before I left I was told I’m within the 24 in the queue (somehow the queue just shortened….i dunno why) and would be given an offer for accommodation. When I arrived, the contract was not sorted out and I’ve to stay at a temporary accommodation. However, when it was ready, the lady at the accommodation office was so apologetic she let me choose which unit and which floor and facing which direction I wanted to stay. It was like buying a house! I choose a newly renovated 2 bedroom unit block with high floor and spectacular view and really value for money rental. It came with electric hob, oven, grill, huge fridge, washer and dryer 2-in-1. Wow! God is Good!

4. The new unit didn’t come with iron, microwave oven and utensils. However, a Singaporean friend (thks Mildred=) I owe you lotsa meals…haha) blessed me by getting me free 2nd hand microwave oven, iron, kettle, toaster, pots, utensils, cups, plates, bowls….basically everything i thought about and even more! Ahh…something the add…over the weekend, I went to buy a dish drainer from a nearby supermarket but it was too expensive, so i delayed the purchase wanting to see what the city has to offer. To my surprise, i went home from school yesterday and found a new dish drainer next to my kitchen sink! The university have decided to provide it. God is really Jehovah Jireh!

5. The government just revised upwards my postgrad award allowance wef 1 Sep 07. More money!

6. I’m getting another variable bonus component based on Singapore’s good economic growth. More money again!

I’ve 2 takaways from this experience:
Firstly, God is perfect in his timing. He is never late and he is never early. So don’t rush him but wait for him! Good things come to those who wait on the Lord!

Secondly, has proven time and again that He is our Jehovah Jireh. He always provides if you are in His will. And he does it ’sui swee (in hokkien)’!!! He is able to do exceeding, abundantly, above all that you can ever ask for think! Pray and trust Him and let Him surprise you!

All these things would not be possible without your friendship, support & prayers as well.
My heartfelt tks to all of you =)

Spread the word around & let us encourage one another!

His Blessings overflowing….
James @Leeds

BEAM Updates!

September 18th, 2007 by Mei Cheng

Greetings in the matchless name of Jesus.

God is good, all the time. BEAM bible school has been a minister-producing institution since the re-opening in the year 1994 up to now. On one occasion during the conference, ministers of the gospel and church workers present who are alumni or former students of the Baguio Evangelistic Academy of the Ministers were invited for a group picture.

Last year graduates has taken part in the ministry when they step out of the bible school, thank God. Yes, it is indeed a wonderful feeling to see many of the graduates of the bible school are now co-laborers in field of souls.”Look what the Lord has done!”

For so many years now, the Alive Community Church (Jesus Is Alive Missions) has been a our partner in sharing the burnden here in this region of the Philippines. Your great support to the bible school ministry has been a way of helping in the evangelism efforts in the district. The continuing assistance of you is greatly contributing to the operation of the bible school, making it more possible to have additional ministers in the years to come. And with these would-be ministers, more pioneering works will be opened and more churches will be established.

Thank you very much for giving, we are proud to say that the investment you been making in our “Father’s business” in this part of the world, has been and still is reaping gains. We have former students who now on pioneering works testifying that they are presently pastoring a church and still growing. Some are evangelists in their section and still some are now among the leaders in the district. We continue to pray that God will continue to use them mightily in reaching out to the lost and souls continue to be born in the kingdom of God.

May God greatly bless you for all your generosity.

For the cause of Christ,
Bro. Eugene C. Banez Jr
BEAM President

Other pictures are of BEAM students this school year in their school activities.

BEAM caroling is done yearly by the students to serenade neighbors with the message of the Messiah’s birth, to take part raising fund. Part of it is shared in the BEAM Christmas Gathering and they give their instructors/staff and their kids simple gifts to show their appreciation to their teachers and the remaining part will be their Student Body Organizatrion fund which will be used on their graduation.
